WAV INPUT / JSON TRANSCRIPT EXPORT
Export a WAV research recording as transcript JSON
FROM RECORDING TO EDITABLE TEXT
From WAV speech to timed JSON transcript segments
Upload a compatible .wav recording with audible speech, review the transcript after processing, and open Download to save JSON.
Upload the recording directly from your computer.
Long audio continues processing while you are away.
Return to searchable text with timestamps and exports.
WAV file size and speech clarity are not identical
An uncompressed WAV can be very large. A good recording helps recognition but file type alone does not cure background noise. Quick-upload size and account limits still apply.
Use timed segments for interview research
The JSON includes a title and ordered segments with text, numeric start seconds and end seconds. Keep the original WAV for verifying citations.
This JSON is not raw digital-audio data
The transcript does not include channel PCM arrays, sample rates, amplitudes or spectral features. Those require a separate audio-analysis workflow.
Do not treat timings as forensic alignment
Segment time ranges are approximate, particularly around interruptions or overlapping speakers. Check the source WAV before quoting or publishing.
Download five output formats from one WAV job
Completed jobs offer JSON, TXT, DOCX, SRT and VTT. Anonymous previews may be shortened; larger WAV uploads require an eligible uploader.
How to turn WAV speech into JSON
- Choose an authorized .wav audio recording containing audible speech. The quick form displays its file-size limit; larger eligible Premium recordings require the main app's chunked uploader.
- Upload to begin AI speech-to-text. Wait for the job to finish, then check people, numbers and timestamps in the transcript.
- On the completed job, open Download on the completed job and select JSON. The download is a structured JSON transcript.
Format warning: Uncompressed WAV files may be large; file size and job limits still apply.
Export detail: JSON represents transcript segments/metadata, not decoded media bytes. A recording without understandable speech cannot yield meaningful transcript text.
Free account: 60 transcription minutes across 20 jobs per month, subject to per-job, file-size and source restrictions. Trying without an account can return a shortened preview instead of a full downloadable job.
Browse all supported input/output formats. For large recordings, go through the main uploader; you can select the same export format after processing.

Frequently asked questions
Can WAV recordings produce a JSON transcript?
Yes, for supported recordings with audible speech.
Does this JSON contain PCM samples?
No. It contains recognized words and segment timing.
Are start and end values exact for each word?
No. They are approximate speech segment boundaries.
Will every large WAV file upload?
No. File size, job duration and plan allowances are enforced.
Can I also download DOCX and VTT?
Yes, after the WAV job is complete and accessible.
