Audio and video to transcript converters

Transcribing a supported public platform link rather than uploading a media file? Browse platform-to-format exports.

Select a supported audio or video input and a transcript format: TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. 23 source types and 115 practical workflows.

Conversion means converting spoken words into a text or timed subtitle document. It does not change the underlying audio/video format or add subtitles to video frames.

Free accounts have 60 minutes across 20 jobs monthly, subject to limits. Without an account, a shortened preview may be all you get. Review important quotations before using a transcript.

MP3 audio conversions

For compressed MP3 recording: interviews, lecture audio or a saved podcast. Low-bitrate MP3 artifacts may hide consonants and quiet voices.

M4A audio conversions

For M4A audio container: Apple Voice Memos, phone interviews or meeting recordings. M4A is a container: the audio codec inside still needs to be decodable.

AAC audio conversions

For raw AAC recording: a saved mobile audio recording or exported AAC speech clip. AAC audio can use different profiles; DRM and unsupported codecs will fail.

WAV audio conversions

For WAV recording: field interviews, studio speech or an exported recorder file. Uncompressed WAV files may be large; file size and job limits still apply.

FLAC audio conversions

For lossless FLAC recording: archived spoken-word audio, lectures or an interview master. Lossless sound does not correct microphone clipping or inaudible speech.

OGG audio conversions

For OGG audio container: an Ogg Vorbis or Opus voice recording. OGG is a container, so decoding depends on the actual audio codec.

OPUS audio conversions

For Opus voice recording: a speech note or an exported chat voice message. Very short or aggressively compressed notes can lose words.

OGA audio conversions

For OGA Ogg audio recording: a voice note saved with the OGA extension. The codec must be supported; OGA does not guarantee clean speech.

WMA audio conversions

For Windows Media Audio recording: older Windows voice memos or lecture archives. Protected WMA/DRM content may not decode; this does not remove protection.

AIFF audio conversions

For AIFF audio file: a voice recording exported from an audio editor. AIFF is often uncompressed and may exceed the quick upload size.

AIF audio conversions

For AIF (AIFF) audio file: a legacy Mac audio recording or spoken-word edit. AIF is an alternate AIFF extension; sample quality still matters.

MP4 video conversions

For MP4 video with a speech soundtrack: recorded presentations, video interviews or lectures. The transcription uses the audio track, not text shown in video frames.

M4V video conversions

For M4V video recording: a saved Apple video recording or lecture. Protected or DRM-encrypted M4V files cannot be unlocked by transcription.

MOV video conversions

For MOV QuickTime recording: iPhone camera interviews, meetings or screencasts. A MOV file may be large and may contain codecs the decoder cannot read.

WEBM video conversions

For WebM video recording: browser recordings, screen captures or online presentations. Screen text and graphics are not transcribed; audible speech is.

MKV video conversions

For Matroska (MKV) video: saved webinars, interviews or a video archive. Multiple audio tracks can make choosing the intended spoken track difficult.

AVI video conversions

For AVI video recording: legacy camera recordings, meeting archives or interviews. Some legacy AVI codecs may not decode even though the extension is accepted.

FLV video conversions

For Flash Video (FLV) recording: an archived older web video containing speech. The old FLV container can carry codecs that need conversion first.

WMV video conversions

For Windows Media Video (WMV) file: an older Windows presentation or video meeting archive. Protected media and unsupported Windows codecs cannot be bypassed.

MPEG video conversions

For MPEG video file: a lecture, interview or older camcorder recording. Audio-track quality and codec compatibility determine the transcript.

MPG video conversions

For MPG video recording: a saved older camcorder or presentation file. An MPG recording without audible speech does not yield a transcript.

3GP video conversions

For 3GP mobile-phone video: an older phone interview or mobile video note. Very low-resolution phone video often has equally poor recorded audio.

TS video conversions

For MPEG transport-stream (TS) recording: a broadcast capture or segmented lecture video. Incomplete transport streams or missing audio packets can interrupt recognition.
