Facebook Reels and video transcripts with timestamps

Check timestamps in an editable transcript and export TXT, DOCX, JSON or a separate SRT subtitle file. Captions are not burned into the original Facebook video.

How do I transcribe a Facebook Reel or video?

Paste the direct URL of an accessible Facebook Reel or video with spoken audio. Review its transcript and export TXT, DOCX or separate SRT. Private videos or login-protected media may fail.

Facebook Reels, Watch videos, Page videos and Live replays

To transcribe a public Facebook Reel, Watch video, Page video or completed Live replay, paste a direct public video permalink above. If Facebook exposes the spoken audio to LongScribe, you can review editable timestamped text and export a separate SRT subtitle file. A share link or a login-gated video may not work; upload your authorized original recording instead.

Reels, full videos and source restrictions at a glance

URL patterns are examples, not a guarantee of media access. A link is usable only when Facebook actually exposes the audio publicly to LongScribe. Do not paste private links expecting access.

1. Copy the individual public Facebook video URL

Copy the URL for one specific publicly viewable Facebook video, Watch entry or Reel, not a profile or Facebook group feed. fb.watch is a short redirect: if it fails, copy the full public facebook.com video permalink. These formats identify candidate videos, but not every URL is accessible to an external service.

  • facebook.com/watch/?v=<video-id>
  • facebook.com/reel/<reel-id>/
  • facebook.com/<page>/videos/<video-id>/
  • fb.watch/<short-code>/
  • facebook.com/share/v/<share-code>/
  • facebook.com/share/r/<share-code>/

2. If the link asks for a login, upload your original file

A Facebook video can be public to viewers but still require a login or block media retrieval. Private groups, friends-only posts and login-restricted media cannot be bypassed. If you own the original file or have permission to use it, upload your original file instead.

Open the file uploader to transcribe a recording you are authorized to use, within the normal file and account limits.

3. Review the transcript and export SRT

A transcript is speech-to-text with a timestamp for each segment. The output can be searched and corrected before exporting TXT, DOCX, JSON or SRT subtitle files.

A public video host begins the introduction.

Review names and numbers in the edited transcript.

Export timed SRT subtitles or the transcript as DOCX.

Sample only: this is an illustrative preview, not text extracted from a real Facebook recording.

Facebook Reels transcription quick answer

Paste a public Facebook Reel or Facebook video URL that contains accessible video. LongScribe creates a timestamped transcript and exports TXT, SRT, DOCX or JSON. Public Reels and public video posts work best; private groups, login-gated posts, removed videos or otherwise unavailable media may fail.

How to transcribe a Facebook video

Paste the public video link and LongScribe extracts the audio and builds a timestamped transcript you can edit and search.

Caption or AI mode

If the video already has captions, LongScribe uses them for speed; otherwise it transcribes the audio with AI. Set the language or let it auto-detect.

What it's for

Recaps and show notes from a Facebook Live, quotes for a post, captions for reach, and accessibility for viewers who read rather than listen.

Long live replays, handled

If a completed public Facebook Live replay exposes accessible audio without a login, LongScribe can queue and process it within the normal plan and duration limits. Some public-looking live replays are unavailable.

Every export

Download TXT, SRT, DOCX and JSON, and share a public link.

Example prompts after transcription

Ask LongScribe: "Summarize the video and find the exact transcript passages that support its main claims." Answers can be grounded in the completed transcript instead of relying on the source title alone.

Frequently asked questions

Does it use existing captions or transcribe from scratch?

If the video already has captions, LongScribe uses them for speed; otherwise it transcribes the audio with AI.

Can I transcribe a long Facebook Live replay?

An accessible completed public Facebook Live replay may be transcribed within your plan's job and duration limits. Some replays are login-gated or unavailable; use the original file upload if you have permission.

What can I use the transcript for?

Recaps and show notes from a Facebook Live, quotes for a post, captions for reach, and accessibility for readers.

Which formats can I export?

TXT, SRT, DOCX and JSON, plus a shareable public link.

What if Facebook will not share the video audio?

Facebook can require a login for individual videos, even when a page looks public. LongScribe cannot bypass private, deleted or login-protected recordings. If you own the original media file or have the right to process it, upload that file directly.

Can I transcribe a Facebook Reel and a regular Facebook video?

When the public video's spoken audio is accessible, you can try a Reel, Watch entry or Page video. A public-looking link can still fail due to login or other source restrictions.

Can I convert a Facebook Watch video or completed Live replay to text?

Paste its public video permalink. A completed public Live replay may be transcribed when Facebook exposes the audio; live streams, private groups and login-blocked videos are not reliable inputs.

How do I export SRT subtitles from Facebook Reels and videos?

Transcribe an accessible public Facebook Reel or video, check the spoken-word transcript and timestamps, then export SRT as a separate subtitle file. It does not alter the original video.

Do Facebook share/r, share/v and fb.watch links always work?

No. They are redirects and may require a login or point to unavailable media. Use the full public video permalink if possible, or upload an original recording you are authorized to use.
