RECORDED LECTURE TO TEXT

Lecture transcription from recordings to searchable text

Upload an authorized recorded lecture and get searchable timestamps. Check difficult names and definitions before turning the edited transcript into notes. For supported video replays, use the main app. This is not a live-class recording bot.

REAL AUDIO · ACADEMIC TERMS NEED REVIEW

Check names against spoken audio before studying

Listen to an art-history reading and compare the preserved transcription with the recorded words. This is a short real benchmark clip, not a recording of a university lecture and not a promise of flawless academic terminology.

Listen to a real 10.73-second source recording

Source: LibriSpeech test-clean, CC BY 4.0. Recorded speech reading, not a client recording or live lecture.

Actual LongScribe primary-ASR output · Sept 11, 2026

You will find me continually speaking of four men, Titian, Holbein, Turner, and Tintoret, in almost the same terms.

Recorded with a CC BY 4.0 source from the frozen LibriSpeech benchmark and transcribed by LongScribe's Groq/Whisper primary-ASR path on September 11, 2026. The text shown here is the preserved model output, not invented marketing copy. This short clip is not evidence of long-file accuracy, or of subtitle timing quality or a different plan.

Transcript → reviewed terms

In this sample, check four named artists against the audio: Titian, Holbein, Turner and Tintoret. Use the timestamp to revisit their pronunciation and spelling.

Reviewed text → your own notes

Example note created for illustration, not an AI summary: this passage lists four artists. Verify course context and definitions against the full recording; this excerpt is not instructor-verified notes.

Two 90-minute lectures use 180 minutes and two jobs. Recorded lectures every week may exceed the Free limit of 20 eligible recorded jobs and 60 minutes/month. If you need more eligible recordings, compare Premium at $4.99/month. File-size, per-job duration and source rules still apply.

How to transcribe a recorded lecture

Save an authorized recording, start the audio job here or use the app for video and supported URL imports. Return to the background job's transcript, locate passages by timestamp and correct the text before using it as revision material.

Lecture transcript, study notes and SRT are different

A transcript follows spoken words and can mishear terms. Study notes are your edited interpretation; an AI transcript is not a fact-checked outline. SRT/VTT exports are separate timed subtitle files, not burned-in captions.

Technical vocabulary, names and formulas

AI transcription can mishear specialist names, equations or notation that was only spoken aloud. Jump back to the relevant timestamp and correct the wording. Check references before quoting an instructor.

Lecture length and free-plan limits

The normal Free allowance is 3 recordings and 1000 transcription minutes per month. A long lecture must also fit the supported upload-size or public-source rules; an hour-long recording is not a guarantee that every file size will upload.

Accessible replay and captions

TXT and DOCX work well for notes and searching, while SRT provides timed text that can be used as a separate subtitle file. A transcript can support accessibility but needs review for accuracy.

Recorded lectures only, with permission

LongScribe does not attend, listen to or record a live class on your behalf. Use an existing recording you have permission to transcribe, and keep sensitive classroom material private.

What is the best lecture transcription software?

For recorded lectures, the most useful transcription workflow gives you searchable text, timestamps and editable exports so you can find a concept without replaying the full class. LongScribe fits that saved-recording workflow and can process long lectures in the background; High Accuracy is the better LongScribe path for noisy or far-field classroom audio. Review jargon, formulas, names and any quote that must be exact.

Recorded lecture to searchable notes: four steps

1. Save the recording with permission. 2. Upload supported audio or provide a supported public replay link in the main app. 3. Search the timestamped transcript and correct names, formulas and definitions. 4. Export DOCX/TXT or use eligible Summary/Show Notes as a draft, then check references. Example study note (illustrative, not extracted from a real lecture): 'At 12:40 the instructor defined the concept; confirm the definition by reopening that timestamp.'

From a recorded lecture to searchable draft notes

After completing an authorized recording, verify important timestamped passages and see the AI summary workflow for an eligible draft summary or notes. Search saved transcripts with Ask Library when enabled for your account. Neither workflow verifies academic claims automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload an MP4 university lecture?

Yes, for an authorized supported saved file in the main LongScribe app. The form on this page is for saved audio; public replay URLs also must be accessible and supported.

Is a transcript the same as verified lecture notes?

No. It is an editable record of recognized speech, not instructor-reviewed notes. Verify quotations, definitions, equations and references against the recording.

How many 90-minute lectures can be free?

Two recordings of 90 minutes use 180 minutes and two jobs, within the normal 60-minute, 20-job monthly Free allowance if unused. Individual file limits and source access also apply.

Can I transcribe a new lecture every week?

The normal Free plan includes just 20 recording jobs and 60 minutes per month. For more eligible recordings, Premium offers 500 jobs and 5,000 minutes at $4.99/month; upload size, individual recording duration and source availability still apply.

Will SRT put captions directly onto the video?

No. SRT or VTT is a separate timed text file that you can load into a video platform, not subtitles burned into MP4.

Can I transcribe a recorded lecture for free?

The normal Free plan offers up to 20 recordings and 60 transcription minutes per month, subject to supported source, file-size and job rules. A single long lecture might exceed one of those limits.

What is the easiest way to turn a lecture recording into notes?

Upload an authorized saved recording in the browser app or use a supported public recording link. Search and correct the timestamped transcript, then export DOCX or TXT for study notes.

Can LongScribe record a live class for me?

No. LongScribe transcribes already-recorded audio or video, not an ongoing lecture. Record only with appropriate permission and upload it afterward.

Can I transcribe a two-hour lecture?

A two-hour recording contains 120 minutes of speech material. It may fit the normal monthly minute allowance when unused, but file size, job admission and source access still have to be supported.

Will scientific terms, names and citations be correct?

Not always. AI can confuse technical terms and named entities, so verify important words and quotations at the timestamps before studying from or citing the transcript.

Can I export lecture subtitles or Word notes?

Yes. You can export DOCX or TXT for notes, SRT for separate timed subtitles, or JSON for a structured transcript.

How can I turn a recorded lecture into searchable notes?

Use an authorized recorded lecture, not a live class. Upload supported audio on this page, or open the main app for an MP4 or accessible public lecture replay. Search the timestamped transcript for a term, correct terminology while listening, then export TXT or DOCX as editable study material. Where enabled for the account, Summary/Show Notes can generate a draft outline and Ask Library can retrieve passages from saved transcripts with source context. Verify equations, claims and citations against the recording; a transcript is not instructor-verified notes. Signed-in Free has 60 transcription minutes across up to 20 recordings each month. That is a monthly pool, not proof that every individual recording or external media link can be admitted.

Does LongScribe automatically create flashcards or fact-check lectures?

No flashcard or verified-study-guide capability is claimed here. Search, edit and export the transcript; optional AI Summary/Show Notes create drafts where available. Check every critical assertion in the original authorized recording.
