Original post, not just a clip thumbnail

SOURCE ACCESS GUIDE · October 12, 2026
The most reliable starting point is a public Reddit post URL with an accessible Reddit-hosted video. Some GIF-style or muted clips contain no speech. Crossposts and externally hosted embeds may need their original media URL instead.
Copy the Reddit post's /comments/ URL from a public community. Deleted, private, age-gated or login-restricted content may be inaccessible.
Check audio playback first. Silent clips, GIFs and unsupported video-only renditions cannot produce meaningful speech transcripts; separate audio tracks also need retrieval.
A post may embed a video from another service. If that source is not supported through the Reddit page, open the original accessible source and use its URL, or upload a file you are authorized to process.
LongScribe signed-in Free: 60 minutes across 20 recordings per month, subject to job duration, file and source restrictions. A no-account demo may show only a short preview. Premium: $4.99/month for 5,000 minutes per month across 500 recordings. Eligibility and per-job limits still apply.
This source-access guide is published by LongScribe. Official platform documentation: Reddit official community post types, Reddit's video media rules. Reviewed October 12, 2026. A supported page URL does not guarantee that a specific recording has an accessible and complete audio stream. Always verify permission, the original recording and the finished transcript.
| Decision point | Supported public link | Authorized file |
|---|---|---|
| Best source URL | Public Reddit /r/.../comments/... video post | Original supported source or creator-authorized file |
| Media ownership | Reddit-hosted accessible video containing actual speech | Crossposted or external media with permitted access |
| Silent GIF/clip | No speech to transcribe when there is no audio | Use a source that really contains the spoken audio |
| Access limits | Removed, private, age-gated or login-only posts may fail | Original host permissions and upload constraints still apply |
| Video and audio | A playable image track alone does not imply an accessible audio track | Check the exported file includes sound |
| Result | Editable transcript on eligible completed jobs | Same eligible job/export flow |
| Exports | TXT, DOCX, SRT, JSON for eligible signed-in completed jobs | Same exports after review of names and timing |
Begin with a supported public Reddit post containing hosted video and audio, not a subreddit listing or comments without media. LongScribe checks whether the recording can be retrieved.
Reddit clips can be silent, GIF-like, or contain video and audio delivered separately. If the recording has no accessible speech track, the app cannot invent a transcript.
If the post embeds YouTube or another external service, the original publicly accessible media URL may work better than the surrounding Reddit post. Use only sources you are permitted to process.
The older /reddit-video-to-text address redirects to this canonical /reddit-video-transcription page. The intent and transcript workflow are the same; there is no second competing transcription page.
No. Individual posts can be unavailable, removed, login-restricted, silent or unsupported by the source extractor. An accessible video with actual audio is required.
Some clips have no audio, and some sources deliver video and audio as separate streams. Review the original post and verify the audio can be heard.
No. LongScribe does not bypass private communities, age gates, authentication or removed recordings.
No. /reddit-video-to-text is an alias redirected to /reddit-video-transcription, the canonical page.
Eligible signed-in completed jobs can export separate SRT, TXT, DOCX and JSON. The anonymous demo may be limited to a preview.
