Microsoft Teams transcription: live meeting or recorded file?

Microsoft Teams can create a transcript during a meeting when the organizer enables Microsoft's native feature and access permits it. LongScribe is a separate option for recorded meetings after the call, not a live Teams bot and not a way around your organization's permissions.

Recording saved in OneDrive

Sign in and select an authorized saved Teams video or audio recording in the real OneDrive file picker. You can follow an eligible OneDrive folder for future saved recordings.

Choose a permitted OneDrive recording

Recording stored in SharePoint

For a channel-meeting recording, download a file you are allowed to use from SharePoint, then upload that recorded file. There is no direct SharePoint library picker in LongScribe.

Upload the recorded meeting

Already have a transcript created by Microsoft Teams? Use that existing transcript rather than paying to regenerate it. For a new draft from a saved recording, check access, review speaker names, and verify decisions against the meeting audio.

How to transcribe Microsoft Teams recordings

Find the finished Teams recording in the organizer's OneDrive or the channel's SharePoint site. Sign in to choose a permitted OneDrive recording, use eligible OneDrive folder follow for recurring imports, or upload a permitted SharePoint MP4. Pasting a restricted Teams share URL into the public video form will not bypass Microsoft access controls.

Teams recordings saved in OneDrive or SharePoint

Microsoft Teams recordings are handled as files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint. That makes the LongScribe workflow a saved-recording workflow rather than a separate live Teams recorder.

Watch a OneDrive folder for recurring Teams recordings

On eligible accounts, a connected OneDrive folder can import new supported saved Teams recordings automatically. One-off OneDrive file selection is a separate option; channel recordings in SharePoint still require an authorized manual file upload rather than a dedicated SharePoint folder watcher.

Not a meeting bot

LongScribe does not join a Microsoft Teams call, appear as a participant or record the meeting live. It transcribes saved recordings after the meeting is complete.

Useful for business meeting archives

Customer calls, research sessions, internal trainings and project meetings can be stored in a known Microsoft folder and turned into searchable transcripts for follow-up work.

Example prompts after Teams transcription

When supported for your completed transcript, Ask Library can help find decisions and follow-up questions. Optional summary or chapter generation is not a guarantee that every newly imported Teams recording gets an automatic AI summary.

Choose the saved Teams recording source

Select a permitted OneDrive recording or upload an authorized saved MP4 from OneDrive or SharePoint.

Sign in for the OneDrive picker. Folder follow is available on eligible accounts; SharePoint libraries are not directly connected. LongScribe only handles saved recordings, subject to Microsoft permissions and download policies.

Frequently asked questions

Can LongScribe transcribe Microsoft Teams recordings?

Yes, after the meeting. Sign in to select a permitted OneDrive file, follow an eligible OneDrive recordings folder, or upload a downloaded Teams MP4 from OneDrive or SharePoint. It does not join live meetings.

Where are Microsoft Teams recordings stored?

Teams recordings are saved in OneDrive or SharePoint depending on the meeting type and tenant setup. LongScribe works with the resulting saved recording file rather than the live Teams session.

Can LongScribe watch Teams recordings automatically?

Yes, when permitted recordings land in a connected OneDrive folder on an eligible account with folder follow enabled. For a single OneDrive recording, select a file. For a SharePoint channel recording, use an authorized manual upload; there is no dedicated SharePoint folder watcher.

Does LongScribe join Microsoft Teams meetings live?

No. LongScribe is not a meeting bot; it transcribes recordings after the meeting has been saved.

Do Teams recordings need to be public?

No. An authorized OneDrive connection can select a permitted private recording after sign-in. For SharePoint, upload a file you are allowed to download. LongScribe never bypasses your organization's access or download restrictions.

Can I paste a private Teams share URL?

Not as a public video input. Use the authorized OneDrive file picker, or upload a recording you have permission to download from OneDrive or SharePoint.
