Transcribe Google Meet recordings saved in Google Drive
Transcribe Google Meet recordings →Google Meet transcript already saved, or need speech-to-text after the call?
Google Meet itself can save a native meeting transcript for eligible Workspace accounts. If the organizer already has that document, use it rather than processing the meeting twice. Google's native transcript instructions explain access and where it is stored. LongScribe transcribes the recorded speech after the meeting and is not a live caption or meeting bot.
Saved Google Meet video in Drive
Connect an authorized Google Drive account. Select the Google Meet folder and keep Include subfolders enabled for nested per-meeting folders. Older files may be under Legacy Meet Recordings.
A recording file you can download
Use the normal file uploader for an MP4 or audio recording you are allowed to process. Do not paste a private Drive URL as though it were public.
Native Meet transcripts and audio-derived transcripts are different outputs: check quotation accuracy, timestamps and what consent or Workspace sharing rules permit before publishing.
Google Meet transcription for saved recordings
Connect an authorized Google Drive account and select the saved Meet recording, or watch the Google Meet folder with Include subfolders checked (on by default). For one-off work you can also download and upload the file; the Free direct-upload limit is 90 MB (Premium up to 1 GB).
No meeting bot required
LongScribe works from the saved recording after the call. You do not need to invite a bot into the meeting, change the live call, or ask participants to install anything.
Is this a real-time Google Meet transcription extension?
No. LongScribe transcribes the saved recording after the meeting rather than listening live through a browser extension. Use Google Meet's live captions during the call, then use LongScribe when you need an editable, downloadable record afterward.
Searchable minutes
Use clickable timestamps to review wording against the recording before quoting decisions, then share a read-only public link with the team.
Action items and follow-ups
Use the transcript to scan for decisions, owners, deadlines and open questions. It is faster than replaying the full call when you only need the next steps.
Private Google Drive links versus connected sources
Do not paste a private Drive URL into the generic public-video URL field. Instead, connect an authorized Google Drive recording folder as a Source or download the recording and upload its file. The connected workflow can access permitted private files without publishing them; sharing the finished transcript is optional.
Download meeting notes
Export the Google Meet transcript as TXT for notes, SRT for captions, DOCX for a document, or JSON for automation and internal workflows.
Many languages
Pick a recognition language or use auto-detect — LongScribe handles dozens of languages for international meetings.
Upload size limits by plan
Direct uploads are capped at 90 MB on the Free plan; uploads can be up to 1 GB on Premium (including Premium Pro) via chunked upload. Supported public URLs are fetched server-side and do not use the browser direct-upload limit.
How to transcribe Google Meet recordings
Start from the saved recording, not the live call. Connect Google Drive and choose the folder where Google Meet recordings are saved, or upload the saved recording file after the meeting.
Google Meet recordings saved in Google Drive
Google Meet recordings are handled as files stored in Google Drive. That makes the LongScribe workflow a saved-recording workflow rather than a separate live Google Meet recorder.
Watch a Google Drive folder for recurring Meet recordings
Use the connected Google Drive Source to watch an authorized Google Meet folder. Keep 'Include subfolders' checked (enabled by default) to include meeting-specific folders created since July 2026; a non-recursive scan of the top-level folder can miss actual recording files. Imports are deduplicated and bounded by normal account limits.
Google Meet folder change in July 2026
New Meet recording files are organized in Google Drive / Google Meet / <meeting folder>. Google renamed the previous Meet Recordings folder to Legacy Meet Recordings under Google Meet. Leave 'Include subfolders' checked when following the top-level Google Meet folder; an attendee shortcut is not the original recording.
Not a meeting bot
LongScribe does not join a Google Meet call, appear as a participant or record the meeting live. It transcribes saved recordings after the meeting is complete.
Useful for classes, interviews and team meetings
Customer calls, research sessions, lectures, internal trainings and project meetings can be stored in a known Drive folder and turned into searchable transcripts for follow-up work.
Example prompts after Google Meet transcription

Use the Google Meet workflow that is already built
Use the existing Google Drive workflow to watch the folder where Google Meet recordings are saved. This is a preset over an existing connection, not a new OAuth flow.
