Federation has limits
LongScribe supports selected PeerTube hosts, not every domain running PeerTube. Instance availability and individual playback configurations can change.

SOURCE ACCESS GUIDE · October 12, 2026
Copy the video's watch-page URL from its PeerTube instance. A compatible public player and a fetchable media stream are both needed; a remote federated listing or an embed is not a guarantee that this server will work.
LongScribe supports selected PeerTube hosts, not every domain running PeerTube. Instance availability and individual playback configurations can change.
PeerTube has public, unlisted, internal, private and password-restricted options. Even if a link opens for you, LongScribe cannot bypass login or password requirements.
If the URL is unsupported and the owner or license permits it, use PeerTube's download option or request the original file, then upload it to LongScribe. Some creators disable downloads.
LongScribe signed-in Free: 60 minutes across 20 recordings per month, subject to job duration, file and source restrictions. A no-account demo may show only a short preview. Premium: $4.99/month for 5,000 minutes per month across 500 recordings. Eligibility and per-job limits still apply.
This source-access guide is published by LongScribe. Official platform documentation: PeerTube watch, share and download guide, PeerTube privacy and creator download settings. Reviewed October 12, 2026. A supported page URL does not guarantee that a specific recording has an accessible and complete audio stream. Always verify permission, the original recording and the finished transcript.
| Decision point | Supported public link | Authorized file |
|---|---|---|
| First choice | Public /videos/watch/ link on a supported instance | Creator-authorized saved video file |
| Host coverage | Curated supported PeerTube instances; not arbitrary federation domains | Upload independent of PeerTube host support |
| Privacy | Only media accessible without private authentication | Permission to download and reuse the file is still required |
| URL variants | Watch links are the safest starting point; some embeds/API links may work | Ordinary file-upload size and format checks |
| Common failures | Offline or blocked instance, media delivery or configuration changes | Plan, duration or file-size restrictions |
| Output | Completed eligible transcription, with timed text and SRT | The same completed transcript export workflow |
| Verify | Check spoken language, first and last lines, speaker names and timing | Check reuse license and important quotes |
Independent instances configure hosting, privacy and streaming differently. LongScribe's supported-host list is deliberately limited; generic PeerTube branding does not mean every new server is enabled.
Copy the original public watch-page URL from a supported PeerTube instance. Embeds, API links and remote mirrors can differ in media accessibility; test the original public page instead of assuming a remote listing works.
PeerTube creators can restrict video privacy or disable download. LongScribe does not bypass instance login, private or password-protected media, and cannot promise arbitrary external downloads.
When the creator and license permit, download a compatible video and upload the file to LongScribe. Eligible signed-in completed jobs can export TXT, DOCX, SRT and JSON; verify speech and subtitles.
No. PeerTube is federated and LongScribe supports a curated set of instances. Media retrieval may also vary per individual video.
Start with the original public /videos/watch/ page on a supported instance; some other formats may work but are not universally supported.
No access-control bypass is provided. An internal, private or password-protected video may require credentials that LongScribe does not possess.
Yes, if the owner and the video's license allow download and transcription. Upload size, recording duration and account limits still apply.
Some videos already have subtitles or a transcript widget; check the video first. LongScribe generates a transcript from accessible audio when needed.
