French video transcription quick answer
Paste a supported public French video URL above, or upload an authorized local recording using the main app. On eligible sources LongScribe may reuse usable captions or transcribe retrievable audio. Review the timestamped French speech transcript before exporting text or captions.
French spelling, liaison and accented names
Speech recognition can mishear liaison, silent letters, contractions and accented proper nouns. Verify é, è, ê, à, ù and ç, place names and quoted passages while listening at the relevant timestamps. Do not assume human-verified accuracy for academic or legal quotations.
France, Belgium and Quebec recordings
The French-language workflow can be used with accessible public recordings from different regions, but it does not promise equal accuracy for every accent, idiom or code-switched phrase. Confirm regional names and specialist vocabulary before using the output.
French subtitles versus English translation
A French transcription aims to preserve spoken French in French text. SRT/VTT is a separate, timed caption download and does not mean English subtitles or subtitles burned into the video. Translation is a separate task and may have separate plan requirements.
Two 75-minute French recordings with a Free account
For a signed-in Free account, two 75-minute jobs total 150 minutes and two recordings, inside the normal 60-minute and 20-job monthly budgets if unused. This does not mean 75 minutes are transcribed in full without signing in. With the current 180-minute demo cap, a 75-minute recording can run anonymously only if all source and admission checks pass. Manual uploads are capped at 90 MB on Free and up to 1 GB on Premium. Sign in and check remaining job/minute allowances and individual-job restrictions before expecting the full 75-minute result.
Frequently asked questions
Will I get the full video transcript without an account?
An eligible anonymous job up to 180 minutes may run in full. For longer supported recordings the no-account flow may provide only a 15-minute preview or require sign-in; it does not promise the full recording. A registered Free account has separate monthly job/minute limits and individual-job admission rules.
Can I transcribe a French YouTube video?
Yes, when the video is accessible and supported. The importer may use available captions or eligible retrievable audio; removed or private videos can fail.
Does French video transcription handle Quebec French?
You can try Quebec French, Belgian French and France French. Regional pronunciation and vocabulary affect recognition quality; check important words and quotes.
Can I upload an MP4 French lecture rather than a URL?
Yes, when authorized, using the main app's file upload. This page's direct form accepts supported public video URLs, not a private recording file.
Does this produce English from French speech?
Not automatically. This is French speech-to-text, normally yielding French text. English translation is a separate workflow.
How many French recordings can I transcribe for free?
The normal Free plan has 20 recording jobs and 60 minutes per month. File size, source availability and per-job restrictions still apply.
Can I download a French SRT subtitle file?
For an eligible completed transcript you can export a timed SRT/VTT file. Review timing and spelling; the file does not edit the source video.
