From voice memo to searchable text

A voice memo is easy to record and hard to search later. Upload the file and LongScribe turns it into text you can scan, search and copy from in seconds instead of relistening to the whole thing.

WhatsApp voice messages, covered

WhatsApp voice notes commonly use OGG audio with the Opus codec, while iPhone Voice Memos commonly use M4A. Save an audio file from the conversation using your device's export options, then upload the file, not a private chat link.

Every common recording format

M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus all work directly, so it doesn't matter whether the memo came from an iPhone, an Android phone, or a dedicated voice recorder.

Free and no install

Signed-in Free accounts get 60 minutes across 20 recordings per month, subject to job limits. A no-account demo may offer only a preview rather than a full downloadable transcript.

What it's for

Turning a rambling voice note into a clear message, dictated notes into text you can paste elsewhere, a recorded reminder into a checklist, or an interview snippet into a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transcribe a WhatsApp voice message?

Yes. Save or export the voice message as an audio file using your phone's available sharing options, then upload the saved file. Steps vary by device. A private WhatsApp chat URL alone is not a downloadable audio recording.

What voice memo formats are supported?

LongScribe accepts M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus audio. iPhone Voice Memos commonly use M4A; WhatsApp voice notes commonly use OGG with the Opus codec. Your saved or exported file may use a different supported format.

Is there a length limit?

Free accounts get 60 minutes a month, and most voice memos are a few minutes long, so a single upload rarely comes close to that. Longer recordings work too — they just count toward the same monthly total.

Can I search the transcript afterward?

Yes. The finished transcript is searchable in the browser and has clickable timestamps that jump to that point in the audio.

Is my voice memo kept private?

Yes. The uploaded file is kept only temporarily for processing and is deleted automatically afterward.
