AAC and M4A are different types of input
A raw AAC stream and an M4A audio container are not interchangeable. If a voice memo actually ends in .m4a, choose the M4A upload instead. Renaming the extension cannot change the encoded content.
What the TXT download provides
The download is searchable speech text. It is useful for taking notes, copying quotations into a document or comparing what you heard with recognized words. It does not contain the original audio waveform.
Recognizing compressed AAC speech
An AAC file can use different profiles and bitrates. Background noise, clipped words and unsupported or protected audio may prevent accurate transcription. Keep the source file when verifying important quotes.
One transcript, several possible exports
After a complete accessible job, you can obtain TXT, Word DOCX, SRT subtitles, VTT web captions or structured JSON. You do not need to re-upload the AAC just to change the output format.
Understand the preview and account limits
An anonymous trial can show only a short preview. A full TXT download requires a completed job and sufficient account access. Large files may require the main uploader on an eligible plan.
How to turn AAC speech into TXT
- Choose an authorized .aac audio recording containing audible speech. The quick form displays its file-size limit; larger eligible Premium recordings require the main app's chunked uploader.
- Upload to begin AI speech-to-text. Wait for the job to finish, then check people, numbers and timestamps in the transcript.
- On the completed job, open Download on the completed job and select TXT. The download is a plain-text transcript.
Format warning: AAC audio can use different profiles; DRM and unsupported codecs will fail.
Export detail: TXT is editable speech text, not a converted copy of the media waveform. A recording without understandable speech cannot yield meaningful transcript text.
Free account: 60 transcription minutes across 20 jobs per month, subject to per-job, file-size and source restrictions. Trying without an account can return a shortened preview instead of a full downloadable job.
Browse all supported input/output formats. For large recordings, go through the main uploader; you can select the same export format after processing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a file with the .aac extension?
Yes, if the audio is decodable and includes audible speech. Protected or unsupported AAC profiles may fail even with the right filename.
Can I rename an .m4a voice memo to .aac?
No. M4A and AAC are different containers or streams. Use the matching converter for the extension of the real file.
Is the resulting TXT file still an audio recording?
No. TXT contains recognized spoken words, not sound. Save the original AAC file if you need to replay it.
Can I also download captions from an AAC recording?
A completed transcription can offer SRT and VTT timed-text downloads, as well as DOCX and JSON. Caption times may need proofreading.
What should I correct before sharing an AAC transcript?
Check proper names, dates, figures and overlapping speakers against the audio, especially when the recording is compressed or noisy.
