Set up a Google Drive folder watch for new recordings
Set up a watched Google Drive folder →A folder subscription, not a public share-link importer
This workflow uses a user-authorized Google Drive connection and a selected folder. It does not fetch arbitrary private files from other accounts, bypass permissions or convert Google Docs documents into audio.
Paid connected automation
Creating a connected folder Source requires an active paid LongScribe plan. An ordinary Free upload is a different feature and does not silently activate recurring cloud access. Account recording and minute limits still apply.
New-only or selected backfill?
Use new-only to watch future additions, or choose a supported latest-N initial import when you need existing recordings. Set a small per-check import cap and decide whether nested subfolders should count. All-visible policies and large folders remain subject to account and worker limits.
Review results and optional AI follow-ups
After an eligible recording finishes, review its recognized speech and export a transcript. Configurable automatic summaries, chapters and email delivery create drafts and notifications rather than verified meeting decisions.
If the Google Drive connector is unavailable
The folder watcher requires authorized Google Drive OAuth access and any applicable verification for the requested permissions. A provider may be temporarily unconfigured or blocked by account policy. You can still explore the one-off shared-link or manual upload workflow instead of assuming private files will be fetched automatically.
Connect a folder in four steps
- Open Connected Sources and authorize Google Drive.
- Choose a folder containing supported recorded audio or video.
- On a paid plan, select eligible import and automation preferences.
- Review completed transcripts and source scan status.
Paid automation: Recurring folder watch requires an eligible plan. Compare plans before connecting.
Not ready to automate? Transcribe one Google Drive recording from an accessible shared media link or authorized file upload.
Availability: OAuth access, supported file types, billing and source quotas apply. This is not a live Google Meet transcription bot.
Frequently asked questions
Which Google Drive folder import policy should I choose?
Choose new-only for incoming recordings, or a supported latest-N policy to import limited existing media. Per-scan caps, permissions and plan limits always apply.
Is recurring Google Drive folder transcription free?
No. Creating connected folder Sources requires a paid plan. Single-file uploads and their Free allowance are separate.
Does it also read my Google Docs or every file type?
No. This workflow imports eligible audio or video media, not general Google Docs text or arbitrary unsupported files.
Will a new recording appear instantly?
Not necessarily. Processing depends on scheduled checks, access, quotas and background jobs.
What if folder watching is not enabled for my Google account?
Google Drive OAuth access may be unavailable or restricted by account policy or pending app verification. Use an authorized one-off media import instead; LongScribe cannot bypass access.
