Convert WebVTT captions into SRT
Download a numbered SRT file from a simple WebVTT caption track for editors or services that request SubRip subtitles. No extra speech recognition is required.
Ready. Nothing uploaded.
Keep your original file. Structural checks do not guarantee audio synchronization or speech accuracy.
Where is SRT used?
Many video editors and subtitle-upload forms accept SubRip SRT. This tool converts the timed text rather than changing the underlying movie.
WebVTT layout does not equal SRT layout
VTT can contain cue identifiers or positioning settings that are not part of SRT. The tool explicitly warns if these are omitted.
Advanced VTT restrictions
NOTE, STYLE, REGION and timestamp-map blocks are rejected rather than silently removed. Use an advanced editor for such tracks.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. Conversion runs free in the browser.
Can WebVTT positioning be retained?
No. SRT does not standardize those cue-position settings; a warning appears.
Are styled VTT files supported?
Not yet. Advanced STYLE and REGION blocks are explicitly rejected.
Need new captions from speech?
Generate SRT subtitles from video/audio with LongScribe, then choose a converter, validator or timing repair tool for the downloaded file.
