Use the same LongScribe transcription and library engine from scripts, agents, Claude, ChatGPT-compatible MCP clients, or your own product. REST schema: OpenAPI 3.1 JSON.

ChatGPT integration (beta)

Connect your existing LongScribe account using the ChatGPT Plugins custom MCP connection at https://longscribe.com/mcp. OAuth replaces the need to copy an API key into ChatGPT.

Only approved tools may access your saved transcripts, and new transcriptions count toward your existing job and minute limits. Connecting does not start a payment or subscription.

Quick start

1. Create a key

API/MCP transcription jobs use the same LongScribe plan, minute allowance, and job allowance as the web app. Request-rate limits are separate from transcription entitlement.

Authenticate with the same bearer API key. LongScribe supports modern MCP 2026-07-28 discovery and the 2025 initialize handshake for older clients.

transcribe_url — create a transcription job from a supported public media URL. Inputs: url, optional language, mode, translate_to_english.

get_transcript — read one job's current status and completed transcript by id.

ask_library — ask a grounded question across completed transcripts. Optional filters: source_id, platform, date_from, date_to, job_ids.

create_from_transcript — generate summary, chapters, quotes, show_notes, blog, or social from a completed job.

Client-specific MCP config field names may differ; the endpoint and bearer header above are the stable LongScribe contract.

Errors & limits

401 invalid or revoked API key · 402 transcription allowance exhausted · 404 resource not owned by this key's user · 422 invalid/unsupported input · 429 API request limit exceeded.

When the per-minute limit is hit, LongScribe returns Retry-After: 60. The daily request limit and current limits are also shown in Usage above.
